My name is Paul Butler.
Initially inspired by the work of Terry Frost, Ben Nicholson and Mark Rothko I have found myself intrigued by the possibility of using simple shapes, colour and texture to create art. I enjoy experimenting with materials such as sand and glass and this has led me to discover other artists such as Martha Winter. I live in Essex but enjoy spending time in Cornwall and have fallen in love with the ruggedness and beauty of the county, as well as the numerous artists and galleries that are situated there.
My work has been bought by private collectors around the country and abroad. I have exhibited in London and the Home Counties and have regular exhibitions in Cornwall. I am a member of the Espacio Gallery in London and will be exhibiting with them over the coming year with the next show planned for January 2017. A further exhibition in London is planned for July and August 2017. My next exhibition in Cornwall will be at the Salthouse Gallery St Ives October 2017.
What I have come to realise is that you never stop learning from and about art. I enjoy trying new techniques and mediums which has led to varied styles of work. Art has enabled me to meet some talented and inspirational people. I love the fact that one work can be loved by some and not by others but I know that among all the styles and artists there is a piece of work that speaks to you.
